Class Descriptions Taekwondo / Karate / Kempo At Ironbear Martial Arts we have developed a program that teaches Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo initially. The program consists of learning to kick and punch as well as correct footwork. After the student has reached their 1st Dan Black Belt we have covered many of the aspects of Ryukyu Kempo and at that point we begin to teach the kata of Ryukyu Kempo. We have incorporated advanced self defense, utilizing pressure point strikes and techniques. We teach some basic ground defense and some basic judo and jujitsu techniques as well as kata or form interpretation. Jodoryu Jujitsu Additionally, we have a separate Jodoryu Jujitsu curriculum that is dedicated to ground work, joint locks and other aspects of Jujitsu. Jodoryu Jujitsu is a complete martial art that incorporates punching, kicking, and grappling, stand up, and going to the ground if needed, and then back up again. Its sole focus is on efficiency and speed with which the opponent is neutralized from any position. Jodoryu Jujitsu relies heavily on a mixture of exceptional body mechanics, in-depth pressure point utilization, sound fighting, as well as other techniques to gain the ultimate advantage. Jodoryu Jujitsu techniques may be employed with any martial arts style to improve the efficiency of the combat aspect. Oriental Health and Fitness (Tai Chi and Qigong) This class is based on techniques that have been developed over thousands of years by the Asian cultures. We will focus on the student's blood and energy flow "chi" throughout the body by performing Qigong exercises. These are low or non impact routines that should help the student become more limber, have better balance and feeling healthier. This class should provide stress relief through Qigong and the use of proper breathing. Additionally, some acupressure points and tai chi will be taught in the class. The class is a great way to incorporate a non contact workout that everyone should be able to do, whether you are 12 to 80 years old this time tested art may be the best way to balance your internal energy. Kids Karate (Ages 4-8) Our new kids program for ages 4-8 years old. We will teach the same curriculum as our regular class, but at a much slower pace. We will incorporate fun drills that your child will enjoy. Your child will receive close attention to make sure that they can progress. At the point when they are able to move into our regular class, it should be very easy for them. Additionally, we will teach your child about respecting others, manners, self confidence, working hard and self defense.
